DSA-Sec 2026: Selection Season Is Underway, Outcomes by 28 August

Schools are now running interviews, auditions and trials for shortlisted DSA-Sec applicants. Here are the dates that matter next, taken from MOE's official timeline.

  • Outcomes: by Friday, 28 August 2026, directly from each school
  • School preferences: 19 to 23 October 2026
  • Allocation results: 24 or 25 November 2026, with PSLE results (tentative)

What is happening now

The DSA-Sec application window closed on 2 June 2026, and schools have moved into the selection stage, running interviews, auditions and trials with their shortlisted applicants. Each school notifies its own shortlisted students directly, so the exact timing varies from school to school. Every applicant will receive their outcome from the school by Friday, 28 August 2026.

The three possible outcomes

MOE lists three outcomes for every DSA-Sec application. A confirmed offer reserves a place at the school, and the child must still achieve a PSLE score that qualifies for the school's offered Posting Group. A wait list position may convert into a place if students with confirmed offers do not take them up, and MOE notes that in previous years about half of wait-listed students were eventually given a place. An unsuccessful application means the child takes part in the usual S1 Posting.

Podsee's Take

DSA may get your child into their school a lot more easily, but it really isn't a shortcut around everything else, it is a commitment to that talent all the way through secondary school, and the PSLE still sits underneath the whole thing.

A confirmed offer only holds if your child's score qualifies for the school's Posting Group, and a wait list spot converts for about half of the parents holding one, so nothing about this season is actually settled yet.

So what I would say to P6 parents in this window is to enjoy the trials for what they are and let your child show what they love doing, while still keeping the PSLE steady in the background, because that result quietly matters in every scenario, offer or no offer.
