Per MOE's July announcement, SPERS is the year end placement exercise for returning Singaporeans seeking a local school place. The 2026 cycle: SPERS-Sec applications ran 8 to 17 July, with tests administered 1 to 3 September, and for the pre university level, SPERS-JC/MI applications run 9 July to 16 October with the test on 6 November. Results arrive in December 2026, and successful students join their schools at the start of the 2027 school year.
Families who miss the September window are not stranded: a Supplementary Placement Exercise runs in December, with results in February 2027, catching the late relocations that real life produces.
The ASP is the door many families do not know exists: MOE describes it as a route that guarantees a returning Singaporean a place in a school with vacancies as near to their residence as possible, even before their return to Singapore, with the school running its own assessment instead of the centralised tests.
