The Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise is the O-Level track's version of a story we covered in June for P6 families, and if you read our DSA-Sec selection season post, this timeline will feel familiar. Poly EAE lets students apply on aptitude and interest and receive a conditional offer before their results are out, with up to 3 diploma courses per application. Anyone currently or previously enrolled in a polytechnic is not eligible to apply.
The application windows have all closed. Working adults applied from 1 to 28 June, final year ITE students from 11 to 17 June, and O-Level students from 25 June to 1 July 2026, per MOE's press release. Every applicant is now in the same stage: the selection window, running 6 July to 1 September 2026, where polytechnics run their interviews, aptitude tests and portfolio reviews. If your child applied, this is the season of waiting for an email, and what comes after it is the part most families have never had explained.
The dates after selection are fixed and tight, and they come from the EAE portal itself. Offers are released on 8 September 2026 at 2.00pm, and O-Level and ITE students must accept by 11.59pm on 11 September, which gives a family barely three days to make a decision that shapes the next three years. That is the sharpest fact in this whole exercise, and it is worth planning for now, during the quiet weeks, rather than in the seventy two hours after the offer lands.

An EAE offer in September is real, but it is not the seat itself. Under MOE's eligibility criteria, the offer confirms at results release only if the student meets the course minimum entry requirements and scores a net ELR2B2 of 26 or better, or 28 or better for the Diploma in Nursing. The aptitude got them the interview and the interview got them the offer, but the O-Level results in January still decide whether the seat becomes theirs, so the written papers from 19 October remain the main event, a point we made about the English grade after the oral ended too.
There is also a lock. MOE states that students with confirmed offers will not be eligible to take part in the Joint Admissions Exercise, the Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise, or other polytechnic admission exercises. Accepting an EAE offer is a commitment to that course at that polytechnic, not a safety net to hold while shopping for something better in January.
For families on the ITE track, the same exercise runs on an earlier clock. ITE EAE applications ran from 20 to 26 May 2026, interviews for shortlisted applicants run from 15 June to 22 July, and results are released on 17 August at 9am, with acceptance due by 21 August. Applicants who accept and do not withdraw by 28 August have their offers confirmed automatically at results release, provided the course minimum entry requirements are met.
EAE is a genuinely great route, and I still want you to think twice before taking it. I know that sounds like I am talking out of both sides of my mouth, because the whole appeal is that you do not need a super good grade to get in, your aptitude and interest carry you instead, and for many students that is the fairest door the system offers.
But here is the weight behind it. Accepting an EAE offer means you are confirmed into that course for the next three years, it locks you out of the other admission exercises, and the diploma you pick quietly shapes your university options after that. So as much as I want to say just go for it, a choice this heavy deserves more than the three days the acceptance window gives you, which is exactly why the thinking has to happen now, during selection season, and not in the seventy two hours after the offer lands.
So go down for the open houses, talk to your seniors, and talk to relatives who actually work in the industry you are eyeing, because they will tell you what the job feels like on a Tuesday afternoon, not what the brochure says. Do not pick business just because everyone does, and do not chase the next hype thing like AI. The course that fits your personality and what you genuinely like is the one you can sustain for three years, and sustainable beats impressive every single time.
